Whether you are just starting your career in care or have experience at management level your development is important to us, as soon as you join us you will be enrolled into the Autonomy Academy.

Our commitment to training and development ensures that our employees are well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge required for delivering exceptional care services. By investing in our team through mandatory training programs and continuous professional development opportunities, we aim to foster a culture of excellence within Autonomy Care Group.

Induction

Our bespoke induction training will give you the understanding of who we are, what you will do and how to do it. Along side our friendly dedicated team who will continuously support you, your induction training will also consist of a combination of e-learning, shadowing, mentoring, peer support, and additional training around core skills. Training will focus on the people we support to ensure their care is person centred.

The Care Certificate

For employees who are new to care we will support you with completion of the care certificate; 15 standards which set out the core knowledge, skills and behaviour expected in your role in the social care sector.

Mandatory Training

Training is delivered via a combination of e-learning modules and in person training by our experienced accredited in-house trainers

Employees receive annual refresher training to ensure that they remain up to date with recommended practice and regulatory requirements, examples of this training includes;

  • Safeguarding
    All employees must complete Safeguarding training to understand how to protect the people we support.
  • Health and Safety
    Mandatory health and safety training ensures that all employees are aware of workplace hazards and understand how to mitigate risks. This includes fire safety, manual handling, emergency procedures, and risk assessment techniques.
  • Medication Administration
    Employees involved in administering medication must receive specific training on medication management. This includes understanding different types of medications, dosage calculations, side effects, and legal responsibilities.
  • First Aid Certification
    First aid is an important tool in quickly responding to accidents to ensure that injuries can be efficiently and promptly dealt with before a trained medical professional arrives to administer more specialised treatment.
  • Infection Control
    This includes understanding hygiene practices, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and outbreak management protocols.
  • Equality and Diversity Training
    This training addresses issues related to discrimination, cultural competence, and person-centred care.

Train the trainer

We believe in empowering our employees through comprehensive training programs. Our “Train the Trainer” opportunities are designed to equip team members with the skills necessary to effectively teach and mentor their peers. This initiative not only enhances individual capabilities but also fosters a culture of continuous learning and development within our workplace. By participating in these programs, employees can take share their expertise, and contribute to the overall growth of Autonomy Care Group.

Positive Behaviour Management Training

We have experienced accredited in-house trainers who train employees in specialist behaviour management strategies giving them confidence and skills to assist with behaviours that challenge in a safe and dignified manner. Training is tailored to the needs of the people we support and our employees.

NVQ/QCF Qualifications

All employees across the group are encouraged to pursue National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) or Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF) awards relevant to their roles; including health and social care, finance and human resources.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

Employees are encouraged to engage in CPD activities that align with their career aspirations within the organisation.

Care Pathway

We welcome people looking to start a new career. Qualifications and experience are good, but what’s really important is a caring, can-do attitude. You can choose to start out on our apprenticeship scheme or you can go straight into your chosen role. Either way, you’ll get great training and become part of a supportive, friendly team. We are currently offering a Care Pathway in Health & Social Care only, but please keep your eyes peeled for apprenticeships in our other departments within Autonomy Care Group.
